Marie Curie in Pittsburgh
Marie Curie, the first woman in Physics to get a Nobel Prize and the first human being ever to get two Nobel Prizes in two different fields—physics and chemistry— visited Pittsburgh in May 1921. This talk will cover her childhood, her work with Pierre Curie that led to the discovery of Polonium and Radium, her humanitarian contributions during WWI, her visit to America and specifically what brought her to Pittsburgh, and finally, her legacy.
