The Entropy of Hawking Radiation
Black hole evaporation appears to create entropy in a way that violates quantum mechanics. This is the essence of Hawking's black hole information paradox. I will describe recent progress on this problem, which has led to a new result for the entropy compatible with unitary quantum mechanics, and discuss the consequences for black holes in quantum gravity.
