"Computing challenges for large particle physics experiments"

Faced with huge computing challenges at the Large Hadron Collider, physicists developed a distributed computing system of unprecedented complexity and scale which has proved to be highly successful. In the process, old models of computing in the data sciences were discarded, and new paradigms emerged. Through the lens of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, the changes in the computing landscape of experimental particle physics over the past few decades will be examined. Even bigger changes may be just around the corner to meet the challenges of the future.
