Professor Emeritus Ted Newman has been awarded Third Prize for the 2018 Essay Competition by the Gravity Research Foundation.
His essay, which won $1000, is entitled General Relativity and Classical Mechanics: Magic? Even though the Foundation was established in 1949 with the goal of promoting the discovery of antigravity, its essay competition attracts submissions from the world’s foremost researchers in gravitational physics.Ted has won several 2nd and 3rd prizes in this competition over the years; since he is only 89 this year, he will have further chances at a first-place finish.
