Title: The invisible landscape — Weak lensing mass maps with the Dark Energy Survey and beyond

Abstract: Our view of the Universe is distorted due to gravitational lensing. These distortions help us understand the content and history of the Universe. With the first year data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES Y1), we have an extremely powerful dataset to map the landscape of our Universe. In this talk I will first give an overall summary of the cosmology results from the DES Y1 dataset. Next, I will describe our work in generating and testing the wide-field weak lensing mass maps from the galaxy shape measurements and several exciting applications using the maps. These maps ultimately contain cosmological information that is complimentary to the more traditional two-point statistics approach.
