• Department of Physics and Astronomy will participate in Dietrich Food Drive

The Department of Physics and Astronomy will participate in the Dietrich Fight against Food Insecurity! Did you know that an estimated 43% of Pitt students experience some form of food insecurity? Your donations will make an important difference to our students.

The Dietrich Fight Against Food Insecurity is a friendly competitive food drive aimed at supporting our students in need. This is a fantastic opportunity for our department to make a tangible difference in our university community while fostering team spirit and camaraderie.

Dates: January 2- January 31, 2025

Location: Drop-off point box at 100 Allen Hall

Goal: Collect non-perishable food items and essential supplies to help students facing food insecurity.

How to Participate:

2. Collect Donations: Gather non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and other essentials. 

3. Pitt Pantry representatives will pick up donations and will weigh them. The winning unit will be the one that donates the most (in weight) per unit FTE.

Prizes: 

The winning unit will have a $1000 donation made in their name to the Pitt Pantry. In addition, they will receive a framed recognition certificate they can display.
